The iPhone has been a huge hit, and has taken the largest chunk out of the smart phone store but what can we no ifs ands or buts do with our iPhone also the obvious. I have created my top 10 things that I do with my phone beside calling and messaging, so here goes:
1) control the comments made on my WordPress blog using the marvelous free WordPress app. My thought is that the ease of spamming, trashing or approving your comments on this app makes life so much easier than being bombarded with comments to deal with when you get to log in on your computer or laptop. Now when I receive my emails on my iPhone saying i have a criticism pending, i go to my WordPress app, i can plainly read the post,then resolve weather I approve or trash the comment.
Facebook App
You can also post to your blog using the app but for me posting features on all these kind of apps aren't quite sufficient adequate for me to want to use my iPhone instead of using my laptop to post a blog.
If you are in desperate need for blog posting via the iPhone i would propose purchasing the blogger app which supports many blogging systems such as WordPress and blogger, with other bonus features like loading videos to your YouTube inventory and tweeting you blog once it has been posted. I also find the blogger app has best image control than the word press app.
2) Shopping... Something i did not think the iPhone would make me do more, but the connivance of the amazon app has made me shop there so much more.
The app is far less clunky and less fiddly than the mobile amazon site. When I feel I need something, like a larger Sd card, I order one, there and then as I think it, next to no exertion at all! I have also used the eBay app, but not a huge fan of eBay to be quite honest. Other useful apps are barcode scanner apps which find the cheapest product online for you, such as red laser. Someone else app I've been using recently is the Tesco store finder, not only do you find your closet store, but you can scan in bar codes and the app will tell you the isel and shelf that the product is on. To be honest tho I do believe this is novelty rather than useful, but we will see.
3) Transferring money. Banking apps like the Natwest app have become fairly useful for checking your balance when your out and about or even at home with your feet up. Pulling off "a sneaky transfer" as the Barclay's ad puts it is no ifs ands or buts simple to, and great when I just remember I have to pay my reputation card today! I also find the actual Natwest website on mobile safari very useful at times when I need to know a tiny more info than what the app gives. My only concern is the security of my inventory details if I ever lost my phone hhmmmm.
4) communal networking, which again has has a huge impact on the whole word in it's own right has made iPhone users even more communal network cordial and mobile. I know that you have been able to entrance Facebook for a while now on mobiles, but I remember when i had my Lg Viewty it was just clunky and a pain to use, but I phone have given communal networks like Facebook and twitter the chance to make mobile communal networking easy, plane and worth while.
The Main app I use is Twitterrific.
5) Playing the most pointless games, and I say pointless because i do not like to pay for games so I always end up getting and rubbishy free games, then deleting them after a concentrate of goes. Any way there has been a concentrate that I like, which are addictive and free. Jailbreaker is a gooden, which is a simple slide and jump two button'd game where you have to jump and slide over boxes and circular saws. I am currently trying to run supplementary than my girlfriends 3000 meters with out being mangled by a circular saw.
6) Editing photographs, some for fun and some for quite cool effects. Fat Booth has to be one of my favorites, which at a cost of 59p I think is a bargain. You take photos of your friends, and make them fat in this app, its a great way to put your friends off their bag of sweets, More serious editing apps are ones like Art of Blur, Polarize and MoreLomo. Those apps create quite cool effects, but to be quite frank never no ifs ands or buts get used.
7) Impressing population with wireless printing. I recently downloaded the Hp iprint, and it works like a charm. When my Hp printer (mine being a Photosmart D5460) is plugged into my laptop i can print the photographs from my iPhone right to the printer. A great idea for when a relative comes to visit, you get a picture together
8) Watching live television. I do this with iPhone. TvcatchUp.com through mobile safari, but what you can do is bookmark the website to your homescreen so it works just like an app would. You can stream a verity of channels right through your iPhone, with only nearby a 15sec delay in the middle of real Tv and what you see on the iPhone.
9) Tracking and timing my runs and cycling. I am a keen runner, and like to keep fit, but I do always wonder exactly how far I have ran and in what time so I can keep enhancing on my time and performance. I use an App called RunKeeper which uses the inbuilt Gps to track my run, gives me my median speed and market the times of my run. I use the free version as this is quite adequate for for I need the app to do. I believe the paid version gives you direct entrance to your iPod, but with the multi-tasking in the os4 update this is no longer a question with the free version.
10) Reading rss feeds. As I am a keen designer, web enthusiast, photographer, film maker blah blah blah I like to take an interest with what is going on in the world within the areas of interest to me. I have found I am holding modern with lots more blogs due to the iPhones Rss reader, which allows me to read up on new posts from complicated websites that I have an interest in. I know you have been able to do this for along time on a computer, but I use a computer for work, and when am working I do not have time to read up on blogs etc, and by the time I have done work I want to get as far away from the computer as possible! What the iPhone allows me today is to catch up on my rss feed when i get a board moment, like when I am waiting for some one, or waiting for a bus or anyone similar.
What Can We Do With an iPhone Apart From the Obvious?
